About Our Family

Our family has its roots in the Allegheny mountains of central Pennsylvania.

Chris is from the small town of Bellwood, Pennsylvania. After graduating in 1985, he served as a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and is now working as a Technical Support representative for a software company.

Meanwhile, Michelle grew up in the small town of Patton, Pennsylvania, graduated in 1992, earned a degree in Early Childhood Education, worked in child care centers as a director, and was a teacher of children ages infant through school age.

We have four children: James, Eric, Rachael, and Andrew, as well as four grandchildren: Aiden, Emma, Bruce, and Isaac.

Michelle currently homeschools two of our children, which allows her to attend homeschool education activities sponsored by the Pennsylvania state parks, libraries, and surrounding communities.

About Our Website

We have dedicated our website to share our discoveries of family-friendly activities that have provided us with many fond memories. We know visiting new places and exploring new things can be very expensive and some activities remain unknown outside of the local area; this may be a reason many people miss the opportunity to experience them. Some of the activities may be too intense, not age-appropriate, or unsafe for children, subsequently, for these reasons, some of the criteria for the activities we seek out for this website are:

  • Inexpensive or Free Activities Most of us live on a limited budget these days, so the goal is to seek out activities that are inexpensive or may even be completely free.
  • Lesser Known Destinations or Activities We like to venture off the beaten trail and find these little-known places. There may be a few hidden gems in your neighborhood waiting to be explored; therefore we look for these gems.
  • Easy Access for Young and Old Alike We focus on activities in which the entire family can participate. Mountain climbing, white water rafting, and rappelling require skills that not everyone is comfortable with; while fun and exciting, these activities may not be practical for young children or family members that do not possess such skills. Our goal is to find activities that all members of your family can enjoy together.
  • Provide Important Detailed Information An important consideration is the available facilities, especially when traveling with small children. Our goal is to provide information detailing what facilities are available at each destination.
    – Restrooms
    – Playgrounds
    – Refreshments
    – Recreation possibilities (fishing, hiking, etc.)
    – Education Centers
    – Parking Fees (if any)
  • Directions and Location Information We will attempt to provide the most accurate directions and GPS coordinates to any of our destinations.

Wrapping Up

We want to thank you for visiting our website. We hope you have enjoyed your visit and that this helps you with your Family Friendly Activities. Let us know if you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas that we can do to make this site better.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. ~ Proverbs 9:10
